Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets, about 6 ounces each
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon honey, optional for a slightly sweeter sauce
  • Lemon slices, for serving

Method

  1. Preheat the oven. Set your oven to 400°F. Line a baking dish or sheet pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it for easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare the salmon. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Place them skin-side down in the baking dish, then brush or drizzle with olive oil.
  3. Season well. Sprinkle the salmon with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Make sure the seasoning covers the top evenly.
  4. Bake the salmon. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, depending on thickness. The salmon should flake easily with a fork and look opaque in the center.
  5. Make the lemon butter sauce. While the salmon bakes, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant.
  6. Add the lemon. Stir in the lemon juice, lemon zest, and honey if using. Let the sauce simmer for 1 to 2 minutes, then remove it from the heat and mix in the parsley.
  7. Serve and enjoy. Spoon the warm lemon butter sauce over the baked salmon. Add lemon slices on the side and serve right away.
