Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless pork chops, about 1 inch thick
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley, optional for garnish
  • Extra Parmesan, for serving if desired

Method

  1. Season the pork chops. Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  2. Brown the pork. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the pork chops and cook for about 4 to 5 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer them to a plate.
  3. Start the sauce. Lower the heat to medium and add butter to the same skillet. Once it melts, stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant.
  4. Add the broth. Pour in the chicken broth and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Those bits add a lot of flavor to the sauce.
  5. Make it creamy. Stir in the heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, and Italian seasoning. Let the sauce simmer gently for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring often, until it starts to thicken.
  6. Return the pork chops. Add the pork chops back to the skillet and spoon the sauce over them. Let everything cook together for another 2 to 3 minutes so the pork warms through and picks up the flavor of the sauce.
  7. Finish and serve. Sprinkle with parsley and extra Parmesan if you want. Serve hot with your favorite side dish.
