Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, optional
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Method

  1. Warm the pan. Set a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil. Let it heat for a minute so the turkey starts cooking right away instead of steaming.
  2. Cook the turkey. Add the ground turkey and break it up with a spoon. Cook for about 5 to 7 minutes, until it is no longer pink.
  3. Add the garlic. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds. Keep it moving so it does not burn.
  4. Mix the sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, ginger, and red pepper flakes if you want a little heat.
  5. Pour in the sauce. Add the sauce to the skillet and stir well so the turkey gets evenly coated.
  6. Thicken it. In a separate small cup, mix the cornstarch with water until smooth. Pour it into the skillet and stir for 1 to 2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  7. Finish and serve. Taste and add salt and pepper if needed. Top with green onions and sesame seeds, then serve warm.
